Karl Loewenstein - Oshkosh School Board
The school board meets tonight in workshop session. The administration will be revealing the reductions that were ranked by the budget reduction committee over the past several weeks.
I am part of that process and I can say that there are no good choices. If our community does not support the referendum on April 1, our district will not be a place where anyone will bring their children to be education.
$2.5 million in reductions, on top of what we have cut over the past decade, will hurt everyone in Oshkosh. The board and administration has been able to keep the cuts partially away from affecting student learning, but it simply isn't possible any longer.
After you hear what options are on the table, mark your calendars for the Vote Yes campaign organizational meeting on Monday night, February 17 at 6:30! You will want to be there to support your kids, the students, and our community!
The packet is here, but it doesn't contain the prioritized list. That will be discussed tonight and voted on in two weeks.
I was at Oaklawn last night, for the first time since the building was complete! I spotted this on the wall next to the entrance. Oshkosh was great and built something that will stand for many years and I will be remembered as part of it!
